Here, a recipe for homemade Gesso If you run Out.
Mix One part Talcum Powder to 4 parts water
then adding in PVA glue and mix until your gesso has a pancake batter consistancy.
I made some last year with some left over smelly talc. ideal for practicing techniques.
Shoe polish sponge on sparingly to give paper an aged effect
Olive oil in a shallow dish of water drip in Liquid ink --- Marbling
Dental Floss Resist , Streched tightly across card and sponge with ink, or bind fabric for tye Dying

Jean, these are great, I have to try it some times. Do you think if I use the shoepolish I can still use watercolours? Sometimes I use tea for watercolour paper, but it has to be strong tea:)

Thanks Jean, yes that's what I thought. Perhaps it could be interesting to use it on parts of the surfaces to be watercoloured!

Brilliant recipe for gesso - thank you. I had to leave my pot at Bristol airport recently. I'd carefully removed the shampoo, toothpaste etc but completely forgot my gesso!
